DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
CARL A. WALTON
Carl A. Walton is a 25-year veteran of the United States Postal Service, and has been conducting training sessions and developmental workshops since 1994. Since 2006, he has served as Greensboro District Communications Coordinator, and previously held positions as Communications Programs Specialist (Northeast Area), Manager, Training (Triboro District) and Human Resources Specialist (Triboro District), among others. He started his career as a city letter carrier in New York City in January 1987 and also worked management positions in New York, Brooklyn/Queens, Northern NJ, Central NJ, Connecticut and Springfield (MA) Districts.
Carl is very community and service oriented, and has been involved in numerous activities over the years. He is currently President, A PLUS – Triad Chapter, an organization that helps aspiring postal employees; Chairperson, Piedmont-Triad Executive Committee, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC); Past President and co-founder, Postmasters Toastmasters, a group that enhances communications and leadership skills; a member and advocate of National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS) Branch 157; and member of Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Greensboro and the Triad Association of Black Journalists (TABJ). He is also a YMCA basketball coach, an avid photographer and local event planner.
Carl is the oldest of eight siblings and the proud husband of NAPS member Dawn, and father of three children – Marquia (22), Carl (18) and Lorenzo (16). A native of Brooklyn, NY and a resident of Greensboro, NC, he is a 1982 graduate of Penn State University, with a B.A. in Journalism, and a 1978 initiate in the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. In 2005, he was named Alpha “Brother of the Year” for the Beta Sigma Lambda Chapter in Hartford, CT.
