GERALD ROANE
Gerald Roane, Postmaster, Washington, DC is currently detailed as the Acting District Manager of the Greater South Carolina District. Gerald received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Union University in 1986.
As Acting District Manager of the Greater South Carolina District, Gerald oversees the mail processing, delivery and retail operations for 317 facilities in a 24,475 square mile area that includes 35 of South Carolina’s 46 counties. The 6,392 employees of the Greater South Carolina District deliver more than 8.61 million pieces of mail each day to 1.91 million delivery points.
As the 41st Postmaster of Washington, DC, Gerald is responsible for approximately 1600 employees in 62 postal units, serving over 600,000 residents, businesses and local and federal government agencies throughout Washington DC.
Gerald started his Postal career over 20 years ago as a letter carrier in Richmond, VA. Past managerial positions include Postmaster, Virginia Beach; Manager of Post Office Operations, Richmond, VA; Manager of Customer Services, Richmond, VA.
Mr. Roane is a member of the executive board of the Washington Metropolitan Postal Customer Council, co-chair of the Government Mails Advisory Committee and co-chair of the Postal Customer Advisory Council for Washington DC.
