PLANT MANAGER, ROCKY MOUNT
LESLIE MERCER
Leslie Mercer is currently the Manager, Rocky Mount P & D Facility. In August of 1994, he began his postal career as a Mail Processing clerk in Automation prior to being hired as a career employee. He also worked as a casual and Transitional Employee. He was then detailed as an Acting Supervisor Distribution Operations (SDO) in various operational areas for the next two years. In 1996, Leslie was promoted to Supervisor Distribution Operations (SDO) in Automation on Tour 1. Over the next few years, he detailed as the Tour 1 Manager, Distribution Operations (MDO) on different occasions and Maintenance Manager on Tour 1.
In 2001, Leslie was promoted to Manager, Distribution Operations (MDO) on Tour 2. During the next few years he detailed as the Air Mail Facility Manager and Tour 1 MDO. In 2006, he was promoted to Maintenance Manager Operations (MMO) on Tour 1 and also detailed as Tour 3 MDO and Senior MDO.
Prior to being promoted to his current position, Leslie was detailed as the Senior MDO in the Raleigh P&DC from 2008 through 2010. Leslie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and also completed the Lean Six Sigma training – Black Belt and Managerial Leadership Program (MLP) given by the United States Postal Service.
