DISTRICT MANAGER/LEAD EXECUTIVE
ANGELA CURTIS
Angela began her postal career as a PTF city letter carrier in Hickory NC in 1993. She began acting as a supervisor in that unit and was promoted to Supervisor Customer Service in 1995. In 1998 she was promoted to Postmaster of Valdese NC where she embraced the role of the small town postmaster. Seeking additional challenges Angela detailed to Greensboro as the Manager of Customer Service and Delivery in 2000. Later that same year she served as the F4 Coordinator for the district. In 2002 she was promoted to Postmaster of Morganton NC which was her first level 22 office. During this time she also served as the Vice Chair of Diversity for the Greensboro District, assisting with the planning and execution of career seminars and employee development. Angela returned to college at Gardner Webb University to complete her undergraduate degree and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2004. In 2004 she also went back to Hickory as the Postmaster and thoroughly enjoyed her return. In 2005 she began a ten month detail as the Area Three POOM in Greensboro, a new role that tested her communication and organizational skills.
In July 2006 Angela was detailed to the Mid Carolinas District as the Manager, Post Office Operations in the Piedmont Area and was subsequently promoted. During this time she continued to pursue her MBA which she completed with a 4.0 GPA in August of 2007. In June of 2007 she began a detail as the Plant Manager of the Asheville Processing and Distribution Facility, a position she was awarded in September of 2007. During her many details and assignments she remained active in her community by organizing community events; being an active participant in the school system; raising funds for the various athletic programs; being actively involved in church; and she also volunteered her time in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
In June of 2010, she detailed as the Senior Plant Manager in Northern Virginia, returning to Mid Carolinas in November of 2010. On January 29, 2011 she began a detail as the A/District Manager/Lead Executive of the Mid Carolinas District and was subsequently promoted in July, 2011. Throughout her career she has been privileged to have strong mentors and leadership. It is her hope to give that same support back to others in the organization in order to perpetuate the legacy of leadership in this company.
While it is difficult to maintain a balance and ensure you have and provide quality of life for yourself and your family it is important to remember their role. Angela states, “Every decision that I have made has been a joint decision because each time I have sacrificed so has my family. At the end of the day it is essential for me to know that I have been true to the values that I live by. This ensures the passion I have for work remains constant and fresh and that drives my success.”
